hirsch vineyard

Sonoma Coast

If California’s vineyard sources were classified similar to the French AOC system, several of the blocks at the Hirsch Vineyard would be categorized as Grand Cru.
— Chambers & Chambers

David Hirsch founded the vineyard in 1980 to grow fruit and make site-specific wine.  From the start all efforts have been on the growing of fruit that makes wines profoundly characteristic of the site vintage after vintage.

At 1500' the Pacific Ocean is visible three miles to the southwest through the redwoods and firs that dot the slopes and meadows.  The vineyard sits adjacent to the San Andreas Fault which results in myriad soil types, exposures, and hosts more than 60 distinct blocks over 72 planted acres.

Failla is proud to have worked with David and Jasmine Hirsch since 2001.  The wines are some of the most long lived, recognizable, and collectible that come from our cellar.
